SEPTEMBER MERCHANT COFFEE CANCELLED!
  • We will not be having a Merchant Coffee on September 24 since our scheduled speaker, Marilyn Laverty of the Small Business Development Center, has canceled due to a scheduling conflict.  We have tentatively rescheduled Ms. Laverty's presentation for the October 22 Merchant Coffee instead, which will be held at Looney Bean Coffee.  We apologize for any inconvenience this cancellation may cause, and hope that you will be able to join us for the next Merchant Coffee on October 22!
2009 MERCHANT ADVERTISING SUPPORT FUNDS AVAILABLE!
  • Funds are still available for 2009 in our Merchant Advertising Support program.  The parameters for MAMA’s advertising support program for merchants are as follows:
    • advertising projects must benefit a minimum of three retailers – a single project might promote three or more coffee shops, three or more downtown businesses, or three or more businesses that are doing a special “tax free” day, etc.
    • 750.00 maximum funding per request and limited to two projects annually per merchant.
    • requests for funding must be in writing, outline type of advertising, and list the participating retailers, total project cost, and date.
    • funding will be a 50/50 advertising match with merchants and can be used for non-traditional advertising.
    • funding will be issued as a reimbursement in a single check payable to the coordinating merchant/applicant after presentation of paid receipt(s) and a brief recap of the advertising results.
    • requests for funding need to be submitted 30 days prior to advertising date.

2009 SHOPPING HABITS SURVEY RESULTS ARE HERE!!
  • HOT OFF THE PRESS!!  We have just received the final results of our 2009 Shopping Habits Survey, which updates our 2006 Survey.  In addition to the usual feedback about their Montrose shopping experience, where they shop, what motivates their shopping decisions, and more, the results include information about the changes that regional consumers have made in their shopping habits over the last 12 months.   You can download the 2009 Survey from our Web site:  2009 Shopping Habits Survey
DOWNTOWN COMMITTEE MEETING DATE HAS CHANGED!
  • The Downtown "Heart of the City" Committee has changed to a once monthly meeting, which will now be held at 8:00 a.m. on the second Wednesday of each month at Amazing Glaze (219 East Main Street).  The Committee co-chairmen are Ray Marcha of Brown's Shoe Fit (249-6101) and Bob Brown of Around the Corner Gallery (249-4243).  Please contact the MAMA office or one of the Committee chairmen with questions, concerns, agenda items, etc.

The Montrose Area Merchants Association hosts Merchant Coffees on the fourth Thursday of each month January through October.  Join us for these 30 minute presentations of pertinent retail topics.  Each Merchant Coffee also has a door prize drawing for a $20 MAMA Buck!
